Points of Light is an international nonprofit, nonpolitical organization that mobilizes and showcases volunteer work across the United States and around the world. It was named for a phrase in President George H.W. Bush’s inaugural address, when he said he envisioned “a thousand points of light” created by citizens helping each other.
I interview nominees for the organization’s Daily Point of Light Award and write stories about their work and what inspires them, after candidates have been thoroughly vetted. I have no input into award decisions. I have also done in-depth interviews and helped to vet nominees for the prestigious L’Oreal Paris Women of Worth recognition program in both the U.S. and Canada.
